100 Holes. 1 Day.
Why Golf Marathon?

Greek Conference.

Since 1994, God has been transforming students’ lives and mobilizing student leaders across the country through Greek Conference, Greek InterVarsity’s national event for fraternity and sorority students. Over 15,000 students have been impacted over the last 30 years. Every year Golf Marathon has provided scholarships for students who otherwise couldn’t experience this life changing moment. Students like Hayden…

Hayden’s Story

Hayden joined his fraternity, Delta Chi, to live the work hard, play harder lifestyle. While maintaining a high GPA in pursuit of a future medical degree in neurology, Hayden also served as the president of both his fraternity and the Interfraternity Council overseeing all the fraternities on campus at San Diego State University (SDSU). At the same time, he enjoyed fully indulging in the party culture of Greek Life.

Hayden appeared to be living a life of success, fun and freedom, but things aren't always as they seem.

Gabe, the Greek InterVarsity Staff at SDSU, first connected with Hayden through Instagram where he invited him to a unique Greek Conference hosted at a camp in the snow covered San Bernardino Mountains in February. Gabe assumed Hayden was looking to grow in his faith. In reality, Hayden had no faith background and simply said yes because he thought it would be a cool trip to the mountains.

Yet at Greek Conference, after spending the weekend studying Scripture and discussing what it meant to live the good life, Hayden began to wonder whether the wild and free lifestyle he'd been living was anything but that. During a time of prayer, Hayden had an image of being trapped in his fraternity basement feeling alone and unable to escape. That is until Jesus opened the door.

That evening, students were invited to take a solo cup and write on it what they felt like Jesus was inviting them to let go of and exchange it for a holding cross as a symbol of leaving their old lifestyle in order to follow Jesus.

Hayden took his cup, wrote on it, and put it down in exchange for a cross. On the cup he wrote, "Everything."

Back on campus, Hayden continues to grow in his new found faith. He has been attending one of Gabe's discipleship groups and he hasn't missed a single week; he's posting their Scripture studies on his bedroom wall; and every where he goes on campus he carries his holding cross in his pocket as a reminder of the good and free life he's found in Jesus.

Students like Hayden meet Christ at Greek Conference and are now becoming disciples of Christ on campus. This couldn’t happen without the support from Golf Marathon.
